Hector Anchondo

Héctor Anchondo is a dedicated blues musician who achieved significant recognition in 2020 by winning the International Blues Challenge (IBC) in the solo/duo category, along with the Memphis Cigar Box Guitar Award for best guitarist. His victory was the culmination of over 20 years of hard work, including touring, financial struggles, and deep commitment to his craft. Anchondo initially played in a rock band but transitioned to the blues, even moving to Chicago for a year to immerse himself in the authentic sound of the genre. His journey includes notable achievements, such as reaching the finals of the IBC in 2016 with his band and releasing successful blues albums like Roll the Dice (2017). In addition to touring, Anchondo founded the growing In the Market for Blues festival in Omaha.
